mid-2005 both doctors took the initiative to convey to the then Public Health Minister Dr. José Ramón Balaguer Cabrera, the majority opinion that generated the meager salary increases made effective in June of that year to this sector. That increase slightly less than nominal monthly wage, which in your case consisted of 48.00 pesos (less than $ 2 USD), was greeted with outrage by most workers. It was disrespectful, since other social sectors for years received three or four times the salary of a doctor added the money in both currencies, food and other amenities unknown to the health worker and work nothing compared with what is saving a human life. drafted a document dated June 12, 2005 addressed to the Minister and presented it gradually so that peers who share that view sign the back of the document. Unpretentious presented it to only doctors, dentists, nurses and dental technicians help, not to the rest of X-ray technicians, laboratory etc.
From the outset the authors of the initiative was brought to the attention of the Union Address and the Party of the Hospital "José Ramón Martínez" where they worked at that time. The response to this gesture was from the beginning of the brutality, several days later, in the absence of the authors, the then First Secretary of the Communist Party in Havana, later ousted Ivan Ordaz Curbelo organized a protest campaign in the hospital-style old school: a lot of shouting and insults and a few arguments, before a silent audience which is not read the document in question and therefore did not understand anything.
This was the trend of months that followed: open threats by the then Provincial Health Director, Wilfredo Lorenzo Felipe, to abandon this initiative and similar meetings in other centers. But nevertheless, after a few months the paper was supported by the firm of 300 workers, of whom 180 are doctors and dentists, while 120 were nurses and dental technicians help, and is as follows:
